I am scientific collaborator in the laboratory of Anthropology, Genetics and Peopling history (AGP) at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. I am interested in various aspects of tropical ecology, behaviour, evolution and conservation and particularly:
Short BiographyI have a Master in Biology (option Behaviour, Evolution and Conservation) obtained in 2010 in the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and a PhD in Computer Science obtained in 2001 in EPFL. After a Master in Computer Science (option Databases and Artificial Intelligence) obtained in 1993 in the University of Burgundy (France), my career as a computer scientist started in the computer science center of the social security where I was software engineer. I was programming cobol applications and then in charge of the conception and implementation of an information system allowing the establishment of statistics about expenses of private clinics. Then, in 1997, I moved to Lausanne where I got my PhD in 2001 on Multiple representations in spatial databases. In addition to my PhD research work, I was involved in the supervision of exercises and projects of the database lectures. I also participated as a consultant in the modeling of several spatial applications: cartographic, water management, risk management. After my PhD, I worked as a consultant at Umanis SARL where I was in charge of database modeling to implement cubes for multidimentional analysis of human ressource data. However, I was missing a research and teaching environment and, in 2003, I returned to EPFL as a senior researcher at the Database Laboratory until 2009. I was teaching classes on databases, Java and C programming and my research work was on multiple representation in Databases, ontologies and moving objects. In 2008, however, I decided to follow my passion for nature and animals and started studying for a Master's Degree in Behaviour, Evolution and Conservation at the (University of Lausanne) that I obtained in 2010 I enjoyed every minute of it and particularly my two research projects: the first step project on Allo-paternal care in Primates and the master thesis on the Fitness Consequences of Weather Conditions during the Early Life of a Wild Aerial Insectivorous Bird, the Alpine Swift (Apus melba).Previous research Interests in computer science
My main research interest is in Multiple representations in Databases and data warehouses. I have proposed a new approach for modeling multiple representations in spatial databases. This approach called Stamping has been applied successfully during the european project MurMur. Actually I'm working on multiple representations of moving objects in the context of the GeoPKDD project and on multiple representations of ontologies. More generally I'm interested in conceptual modeling for spatial databases. I've participated in the specifications of the MADS conceptual model for spatio-temporal databases. More recently I have studied the differencies/similarities between ontologies and databases. Research Activities
I am member of the steering commitee of W2GIS conference I've co-organized the workshops CoMoGIS 2006 and W2GIS 2005. I am member of the program commitee of the following conferences: TeachingI've taught the following courses:
